Shortcuts is the best IMO
BUT - the last few versions are 'buggy' especially when on a network. We have 3 stations in one salon and it's a little trying some days.

I have never seriously tried the other systems - but i wish someone would build a Mac-based system (if you knew me you'd know i am a complete AppleHead LOL)

There are a few systems I can think of, Shortcuts is what we use, I have used hair ware long time ago. Other systems on the market are gum nut and heaps others.
The systems available are all excellent point of sale systems, But are also capable of may other features. I have found to utilize all the features of shortcuts takes allot of dedication to learn the things it can do.
Cheers

Make it a web 2.0 solution (web based) and i'd buy it!

POS for Hair Salons

As an administrative assistant, Shortcuts is a fantastic system to use. Simple and easy to navigate. With plently of available modifications, product management is easy. However, i look forward to a web based POS/Product Management system to be implemented in the near future.

Hi Lisa,

yeah not a good move to lease the hardware. Maybe get your own when you finish the lease.
We lease the software. It works for us that way taxwise rather than buying (don't do that folks). Also it means we get Surebiz support included.

It's expensive - yes. But it is the best. If you can start to learn the program well you'll really see the difference in your bottom line profits.

One neat trick we do is to keep the manual around the house somewhere. Once a week I pick it up. find a section that i don't know how to do. And learn it.
It takes a while byt by learning and mastering only 1 task per week (eg, stock ordering & receiving) i have eventually mastered the whole program without becoming overwhelmed.

Post any Shortcut questions here.
