Just a quick add on...we have been pushing the staff with re booking and instead of 5 to 6 weeks we are recomendind every 4 to 5 weeks, our rebook is at about 80% to date with the staff now getting into the a steady format that re booking is the daily norm and they arn't finding it as hard to do anymore (still have to keep on top of them though, some are still slipping through).......

Our last July was in our top 3 turnover months last year, and at start of trade today and only half way through July we are only $600. off last July's monthly total...WOW!!!!!.... should be able to smash that today.

Murray

P.S. have a great day all.

WOW that's clever. I think I will try that. We currently work on 5-6 weeks and get 6-8 weeks if I drop it to 4=5 weeks I might be able to get 4-6 weeks....

we run on mainly 4 - 5 week appointments..

as i've mentioned before we still use a paper book. At the top of every day we have 3 dates highlighted in 3 different colours.. 4 weeks, 5 weeks & 6 weeks from that day.

Just a quick up date on our SMS Marketing!
We sent out a SMS deal for $149 to old clients on Friday afternoon in 1 of our salons that was a bit dead on the Saturday! We got 2 bookings!
Pretty good result for a last minuite ditch to bring our Dead saturday alive! It was an open invitation special, wonder if we get any more bookings from the text this week!
Keep you updated!

Hi all just an up date........July has been our best trade month since we have been open, we doubled last years july total + an extra $4,000 on top of that. We had 41 clients through the door yesterday with 5 staff non stop and 3 staff go through to 9pm, we are solid booked out for the next 5 day's with only 20 min gaps here and there for hair cuts (had to interwiew for a new staff member today) but I think she got scared with how busy we were. We only had 1 senior and 2, 2nd years on today with a total of 19 bookings & 3 walkin's (yes they are still going at the moment)

The reason for this ?? ...we sold 1 salon and have put all our effort into our Tuggerah salon not spreading our staff out also we did a complete staff restructure..each staff member has been given a spacific job position this way time is better used, it has been working brilliantly without any hicups!.

The local paper did a story interview on us yesterday because of how busy we are when a lot of local business are closing their door's......This month is looking to be a winner as well.

Take it easy guy's

Regards
Murray

Talking

Great thread. It's very interesting to hear different tactics - the SMS one specifically seems to be very effective.

I was hoping to get some opinions on the Jingle Generator - a goofy online service (free) meant to help small businesses, like salons, attract new customers. Basically, you type or phone in your company’s info, and it spits out a cheesy version of The Outfield's "Your Love" that is branded and personalized for your company - and you can share it with your clients. You're probably thinking how silly this sounds, and that's exactly what they're going for...

You can see it here: http:///The Jingle Generator from Intuit QuickBooks

Would you use this to market your business? Any thoughts in general on interactive media?

Thanks,
-Kate, Fanscape>>

I'd use it for Birthdays.
But it could be a problem if it auto-played in the middle of a clients meeting

I'll give it a go next month for birthday e-letters
