Thanks for those links Carl. The Campaign monitor looks good so does Message4U. I like the fact that they are inexpensive and you pay once the service is complete!

I personally feel that either a SMS or a voice call is important, rather than email. Too easy to get lost in a spam filter.

My wife feels that if we give them a card with an appointment that ringing them is saying that they are too stupid to remember the appointment.

Like I pointed out I make my dentist appointments 6 months in advance I DO apreciate the call, because there is no doubt that I lost the card a week after they gave it to me. And my optomitrist rings me and thats even if it has only been 3 days since I made the appointment. It doesn't bother me, I don't get insulted, and from their point of view, if I am not going to make it better to know the day before because they have a waitlist that they can pick people from to fill the appointment. In fact I have been on the waitlist and saved myself waiting ages because one of these calls has freed up a timeslot for me.

I agree this thread has been a great Idea. I would love to see it continue and a various topic or challange every week. Well done guys.

hey ernie, the flyer made at home idea is a great. we have started doing this of late, it is amazing what you can come up with!

On the re-booking front, our salons live and die off re-bookings. Especially our Warragul salon that is upstairs and gets absolutely no walk byes.

To maximize re-bookings personally I start very early in the appointment planning the idea and importance of re-bookings in my clients head.

I chat about maintaining my great cuts and colors in x amount of weeks, I chat about how busy I am and it will be hard to get in if they don't re-book. It is so important to invite your clients back, make them feel wanted, offer to re book at desk with confidence, some clients laugh at me and say "I cant so that, I not sure what I will be doing in 4 weeks" I say, sure you can, it is time to make time for yourself, how great to you feel now, come on lets pencil it in. You will be surprised how many I can coach into this idea of re-booking.

Give it a go!

Cheers

We do similar things in our salon to keep rebooking people..

we just tell them we are rebooking them for 4, 5 or 6 weeks.

I'd just like to point out my nick name is Erinie... just like Erin but with the ie on the end

Just a quick update.....

I subscribed to the SMS service and today, I though I would just send off an small marketing campaign. I sent it to 130 people total outlay $26. So far I have $280 in appointments come in. And that's without upselling services or retailing take home to them.

Do you thing I am happy???? You bet!

P.S. And these are client's I haven't seen in 6 months or more!

That is great! SMS is fantastic tool for marketing!

An Idea, you could market to your cleints booked for a particular day,

=10% off retail if your mention your text during your appointment

=Get a $10 treatment today it you mention your text during your appointment

=Bring your Man today and get him a half price haircut with a stylist

=Birthday promotion texts

=Send to your male clients around mothers day, Come get a gift voucher for your wife or Mum

=Send to your students offering promotions

It is endless if you have gathered Mobile numbers! Rembemer to add an opt out option as not to anoy future clients not inteerested in text marketing.

Happy Texting!

I did get one really aggressive reply that asked to be removed....

Just to finalize the numbers I sent out a total of 126 SMS. Now when I did this on Thursday I had no one booked in for the day Saturday (rebooking wasn't happening) By the end of the day I did $470 from the SMS.

I also talked about rebooking with other clients by starting to tell them how we will now remind them of their appointments with SMS. Only one person today didn't rebook. One was just so impressed with the level of service that we offer. Just from a 20c SMS. I can't believe I didn't look into this before.

I love the idea's of the extra bit's too. They can be tacked onto a reminder SMS confirm rebooks and double your appointments in one go AWESOME!

I know this is an old topic but......

Tomorrow, Saturday we had some cancellations and only 4 hair cuts booked in for the entire day. So I did a SMS campaign to 155 clients offering a discount on cut, colour and foils. Guess what? All stylists are booked solid for the whole day. KA-CHING!
