Health department checks

Just yesterday I had a conversation with a health and saftey council worker that came to asses the work place. all went well untill she posed a question to me, "what would you do with if you cut yourself with your sissors" What she ment was what would you do with the actual steal. Her recomendation was to discard the sissors? What tha? I told her that my sissors are worth $1600, are we supos to use disposiable sissors?
Interesting.
Has anybody elce had an expereince like this before with the health department?

Yes we can kind of strealise them with bleach and time, as time kills germs. But ultimatly only through Medical Steralisation techniques this is pos.

It's pretty pathetic how they have inspectors being sent around without any understanding of the industry, I hope she was embarrased when she realised how much they cost!

Obviously this is what the health department does with employee brains.........

Seriously, So if a butcher cuts themselves they toss the knife? And when the librarian gets a paper cut they toss the book?? Wake up people!!! Like someone said before me, it would be nice if people in these positions would have some idea of what the industry is about.....

yeah, crazy

moving on from that visit, we had another visit from OH&S in Victoria. Did you know they offer a free 3 hour obligation free , consultation to help improve OH&S in the workplace. this is a great free service.
We have booked it. it will be interesting to see how we can improve this area in the salon.
I will keep u posted.

That's weird because one of the bizzare OH&S rules I read about at college said you weren't allowed to use refillable liquid soap dispensers in the salon because it can get contaminated or something stupid like that.

I'm hoping my book in wrong because it makes no sense whatsoever!
