| Difference between a good and bad haircut What is the difference between a good haircut and a bad one, and the difference in pricing, how does a $100 haircut differ from a $15 one. I walked past a Just Cuts the other day and it was packed, it got me thinking whether people realize the difference in quality. |

| Guess you could compare Target to Channel! Huge price difference. I think people understand and appreciate the difference, Its about choice, budget, brand affiliation etc The hairdressing Industry has 4 distinct markets, budget, lower, middle and upper. All 4 market places can be happy, healthy and profitable. I personally own upper market salons but have great admiration for any hairdressing chain like Just Cuts that can be a public company and float on the stock exchange, not may salons can do that! ![]()

| Belle said it... Mercedes versus Hyundai - basically the same thing but worlds apart in reality ![]() But to be more precise a Just Cuts haircut has to be delivered faster than a $100 cut. So one of their stylists may have to do six cuts to the expensive stylists one, ie they work really hard for the same $$'s. And that would be a really tough day at the 'office' if you had to do 50+ cuts to equal 8 of my cuts dollar wise - tough gig!

| this is all generally correct but i dont believe just because someone works in a salon that charges $65 - $100 for a hair cut does a better job than i do working in a salon that charges $40 - $60 for a cut. The are a lot of ****y hairdressers out there that believe they are the **** just because of the salon they work in. I know myself that i am incredibly particular with my projection, sectioning and finishing leaving little room for error. A lot of what you seem to pay for in the high charging salons is their decor and whether you get champagne with your magazine. lol having said this i one day hope to be able to charge what ever i like for my cutting :P another generalisation.

| There's another point to charging more for your work - you earn more ![]() And when it's all said and done that is the object of working isn't it? If that happens to be in plusher surrounds with extra goodies for you & your clients, with the satisfaction of striving forward in your craft and you're producing your best work daily - well that all comes with the higher charge rate (can't be done with pennies can it) Personally I believe that we all under charge dreadfully as an industry here in Australia. The sooner we all charge a fairer price (fairer to ourselves) the sooner we'll be able to build a better future in the industry.

| oh i know.. i would love to have all the fancys to work and play with ![]() also i do enjoy money. My big pet hates are seniors prices and how discounted they are.. most seniors have more money than others, also they give out seniors cards to people who still work and own their own businesses, drives me crazy!!! Also i would love for our industry to even out the price difference between mens and womens hair cuts.

| yeah.. i get you. I have also had heated discussions on the topic of mens/seniors pricing.. Although it is a pain in the arse and especially with seniors cuts, you really make no profit at all on the time you spend doing their hair but they will never be willing to spend more and are never understanding to price rises.. Our salon cut out giving the option for sets (besides for specially occasion styles) because they take to long to do without much return.. in some cases you nearly have to book out as much time as a colour!! and what can you get $25 poop! Then they say things like "you eared your moneys worth today!" i mean F! Also i am a little bitter about seniors at the moment since we made the exception to set an old lady's (90yr) hair one day and she went and collapsed on me! literally.. i ran across the salon to catch her fall! well i'm glad i got my rant out now... thanks to those who read my semi explosion.

| We DONT do senior prices at all any more, they pay full price just like anyone else if they want the best product the best service and the wow factor, then they pay for it.When we changed 2 years ago the pennies were offered a local cheap salon down the road they went there once or twice then came back Murray
