WE can only seam to please clients when we listen to the local radio stations as they play such a diverse range of music, we have found if you stick to one type of music or combilations of similar music it dosn't cater to all clients,so when we have 9 or 10 client in at one time listening to a CD there would alway's be several saying I dont know how you can listen to this rubbish (regardless to what is playing) So it's the radio for us it's the only way to keep clients happy!

Regards
Murray

i great alternative to cd's is ipods. I brought my own ipod And ipod dock stereo into the salon.. i have several play list on there with different types of music.

Every one has a different taste in music which means you will never please everyone at once..

I used to have such difficulties when i worked at one particular salon because they wouldnt allow a certain cd to be played as they thought it was to heavy ( very very mild garbage cd) where as i thought more exciting music was better for when we are busy like on a saturday as the atmosphere is totally different, so a soft rock cd wasn't ok but robbie williams yelling in a song "so **** you all" is perfectly ok.

you will never ever make everone happy.

But i find the ipod works well because it can be on all day and you will never have to touch it or hear the same song twice.

i hate christmas cd's and dont let them be played at all untill the last day or so before christmas.

Music in a salon is a tricky thing... it really is for the clients but i like working to music i like(omg i am bossy) but when i had my salon the age groups of both staff and clients was so varied and i cant stand the radio. I did ask my gorgeous staff to bring in their own CD's but that didnt work so i decided i would become"the music police"- So French So Chic is a fav ,Endorphen,Moby,Cafe Deflore. Chrissy tune definatly not. I once sent my young apprentice to buy a chrissy album and she came back with Boney M xmas hits. ahhhhh!!Never again...i do miss those days-sometime..cia

Just for a laugh and being an x-muso (heavy metal bands) when Gun's n roses come on the radio I usualy sing along and do my Axle dance through the salon, or head bang to Motley Crue, client's love it, have a bit of a laugh, loosens them up and there wallets.

Regards Murray.

About 3 weeks ago I had mystoreradio.com.au install SNIPCUT-FM it's our own radio station, with over 6000 songs, we can change to music to suit the day, lounge to club dance, pop to bad to the bone rock, classical to instumental. It plays ad's for the salon, advertising product specials, and all our services. I can change the frequency of the ads from after every song (like when the salon is busy) and every 10th song, for when we are quieter (not often thank goodness).

Best part since installing SNIPCUT-FM our retail sales have increased 40% and beauty services have increased 100%. We measure everything in the salon, so we can tell immideately when something makes a difference.

The company installs all the equipment and the professionally records the ads which can change every month. We also update with the latest songs every month too.

No, this service isn't cheap, it's $88 per week. But considering the increase in beauty services alone have more than covered that, plus the increase in retail sales I think it has been a great investment.

we play an ipod in all three of our salons through a sound system in the salon.
we have a set genre that suits the salon and we dont tend to play anything other, at the momnet all three salons are playing the exact same music it creates the right atomosphere for our look and the looks we create for our clients
