Unhappy Crazy call last week

I received a call last week from a non-industry person wanting to speak to me about this site. To be more exact she wanted to know all about the site's inner workings and business planning.
Hmmm... sounds fishy i thought.

Not to 'give away the farm to the first door knocker' i asked what her interest was.
Well.. this lady, her backers and her IP lawyers would like to start a hairdressing sit to connect stylists that have left their current salon to connect with their clients. The clients would search the database for the stylist for a fee.

Hmmm... i'm a salon owner too so this is sticky ground. I can see the appeal but what of the legal implications?

No sweat i was told, the now patent lawyers had it covered. Many hats these lawyers...
Well it has been done before i informed the caller. No it hasn't she retorted. Back and forth we go. A quick Google ends the debate - of course it has been done before. And no just in the USA but i think here in Aussie too. Good lawyers huh?

Hmmm... me thinks there are no lawyers are that slack. Google isn't a new thing is it?

My patience and curiousity eventually ran out and i bid the caller goodluck & goodbye.
The thing is - i think she'll actually go for it with the site. She sounded unpreturbed.

What's the opinion out there for a service like this?
I for one won't want anything to do with it.
But what do you all think?

Hmm, I believe the salon owns the Clients unless organized otherwise (e.g., rent a chair situation).
Legally I thought the salon owns the clients so what business is it of this site to assume the hairdresser owns the clients?
I have seen the american site about a year ago and was not to keen on it. As a salon owner Im not keen to have this in Australia.
A site like this just makes me realise more and more the importance of building a brand, not individuals and the important to share clients within the salon system.
We will see how it goes!
Cheers
